Alfred North Whitehead, or Lord Snowdon as he was better known, was born in Bournemouth, England on January 25, 1851. He graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University and practiced law in London and Paris. In 1909 he met William James and became a friend and student of the philosopher who influenced him greatly. Snowdon is remembered today as an important contributor to philosophy
He published two books, Religion without Revelation (1903) and Creative Evolution (1907), which established his reputation as a metaphysical thinker. His other book The Aims of Education (1925) was one of the first books to discuss the philosophy of education.
